FELIPE GUIMARÃES HAS JOINED ADDAX TEAM FOR THE NEW GP3 SERIES.

Addax Team have reached an agreement with Emerson Fitipaldi and have signed up the young Brazilian driver Felipe Guimarães, who will drive for them in the new GP3 series in this 2010 season.

Felipe Guimarães, ( 22nd March 1991) Anápolis, Brasil. At the age of 19, this is without doubt the most promising of the Young talents in Brazilian motor-racing. After having had a successful baptism in karting, he moved up to formula racing in 2007 and impressed in his first season of the South American F3. He finished 4th overall, with 2 victories and 6 podium finishes against  much more experienced drivers. He was chosen for the Brazilian team in the A1 championship in March 2008 and in the summer of that year, he gained more experience in the Euroseries 3000. In the A1 GP 2008-9 he was the youngest driver to get a podium place. In the summer of 2009 he took part in the Indy Lights, obtaining good results. In its vocation to help young talents, Addax Team has decided to give the young Brazilian the opportunity to race in the new GP3 championship for this 2010 season, after having participated in the pre-season tests   with the team.  He showed his potential setting better lap times than rivals with more sessions behind them.

Felipe Guimarães. Addax Team Driver :  “I am very happy to be joining Addax for this GP3 season, such a winning team with such great people in it. After our tests during pre-season, I could already tell that together we’ll have a great chance to win many races and this championship, and this is what we are setting out to do. I also need to thank the Team’s management for working hard with us to get to this point, and Emerson Fittipaldi for all the help he’s been giving me in my career, undoubtedly a great example of a successful driver and of a great person as well. I can’t wait to be on the grid at the first race in Barcelona – hopefully up front.

Emerson Fitipaldi: “I am very happy Felipe Guimarães will drive for Addax in GP3 this season, this is a great moment for him to join such a quality, top team in all aspects and with two – now three – very fast drivers, to continue the team’s winning tradition. Felipe will drive side by side with an Italian chosen by the Ferrari Academy, and a Mexican hand-picked by Telmex, so he’ll be in good company, I am sure they will enjoy a healthy competition amongst the three of them and will help each other out a lot, developing their talents further this year. We already saw during the pre-season tests how incredibly competitive this new GP3 Series will be, with a high level of drivers, and we also saw how Alejandro has assembled a well-structured GP3 team, technically sound and with a lot of really top people, so I know Felipe will be in excellent hands. It will be a year of a lot of work but a lot of success also, and we look forward to a future of victories with the Addax organization.”

Alejandro Agag, Addax Team Principal and Owner: “I would like to welcome Felipe to the Addax Team. This promising young driver has an impressive background in karting, under the guiding hand of Emerson Fitipaldi, and has also competed in various classes such as A1Gp, the Indy Lights, the Euroseries 300, showing signs of his talent, despite competing against rivals with far more experience. True to the spirit of this new event we hope to give a chance for these young talents to shine. I am sure that Felipe will take full advantage of the great opportunity he has been  given to take part  in a competition, where all drivers will start the championship with the same material and he will be able to demonstrate his true worth and will show how far he can go in the short term future”.
