I found these figures at the 鑑定団, a second-hard warehouse of all kinds of goods. They were part of a Final Fantasy Creatures Collection, which had several volumes and contained all sorts of monsters and bosses from throughout the entire series.

Cherry Blossom Season

In her recent blog entry, Destiny writes:

Now that I think about it, March is almost over.
A few blossoms have started to appear on the cherry blossom trees in the park next to our company building.
I wonder if the trees will be in full bloom by the weekend.

I felt that was as good a reason as any to give you an idea what cherry blossom season is like in Japan.

Final Fantasy game guides

As a follow-up to my bookstore tour, I thought I would highlight another great place to go for guides and games. It’s called 鑑定団, which means a group of appraisers. It is basically a gigantor warehouse of second-hand goods.

Technically, you’re not allowed to run around taking pictures, so this tour will not be so in depth. I had to put up Sneak and Invis, and be discreet with my snapshots.

Touring a Japanese Bookstore

You find yourself standing before a large, brightly-lit store. The sign above you reads, “Favorite Books.” However, the English title belies the truth your surroundings reveal to you: you are in 浜松市北区, Japan.

You can see a strange midget with a round head beckoning you to enter.

漢字検定 – Studying for the Kanji Proficiency Test

I don’t have work today, so I’m supposed to be studying for the upcoming test on Sunday. However, I stumbled upon (literally) this obscure Flash game online. There is no goal to the game, you simply redirect the course of free-falling sand. After 30 minutes of watching sand fall, I realized I needed help.

This post is to get my mind back on track, and teach you about kanji, study tools and preparing for the test.
