New Haven Woman, 72, Attacked, Choked While Taking Out The Trash

A 72-year-old city woman was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after an unidentified man choked her while she took out her garbage Tuesday morning, police said.

The woman left her house to take out the garbage at about 2 a.m. woman when she was attacked from behind, Officer Joseph Avery said. The woman passed out after the suspect choked her, Avery said.

Police said she had visible bruising around her neck and face.

Authorities believe the woman may have been attacked because she interrupted a potential burglar "checking out" a vacant house on Livingston Street.
