A GOOD THING
Doyenne of domesticity Martha Stewart spiced up a recent trip to Dubai -- where she tasked with promoting her magazine and TV show -- with a little sightseeing. There was a stop at the Burj Khalifa -- the tallest building in the world -- and a trip to a textile and gold souk (market) where she shopped for "ghutras" -- large squares of woven cotton, often worn by Dubai men, that she prefers in red, white, or black. Stewart found she relates to the area because, she says, "food, family, decorating, and homemaking are all very important in this part of the world."
THE D-LIST LIFE
Hard to tell which was a bigger thrill for self-proclaimed D-lister Kathy Griffin on her recent trek to London: dinners at Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace with friend Joan Rivers; hanging with the extravagantly-adorned cast of "Priscilla: Queen of the Desert"; or a surprise encounter at Piccadilly’s Wolseley restaurant with Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons.
TWEET OF THE WEEK
After her years on the bar-set comedy "Cheers," dancing machine Kirstie Alley must be used to impulsively drunk behavior, as noted in this tweet: "My son keeps texting me from Germany.....way too many beers.... He starts by calling me Mamu, a name he's never called me. gotta love him ;)"
