Crews work vigorously to restore city after tornado's wrath

Not long after severe storms producing tornadoes tore through Kentuckiana crews were working hard to restore the city back to normal. 

One of four tornado touchdowns on Wednesday, reported by the National Weather Service on Thursday, hit  Churchill Downs and made its way down Central Avenue and Floyd Street demolishing horse barns and power lines. 

Within a half mile stretch on Floyd Street in front of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, a Louisville Metro Police Department officer on scene reported Thursday that 25 telephone poles were blown down. 

After crews worked through the night Wednesday, half of those poles had been replaced by around 1:00pm, but in the chaos of the cranes and cherry pickers, it is still hard to see the progress. 

A handful of portable toilets from the stadium parking lot had been gathered by the storm, and dropped in a single pile next to a damaged building in the area.  Despite the strong storm, Cardinal Stadium shows no signs of damage from the outside.

Down the street at Churchill Downs, a few horse barns had their roofs ripped apart, while most of them appeared untouched.  It was reported via Twitter by Churchill Downs representatives, that no horses were injured, but many were running rampant around the barns after the storm.
