With the team title coming down to second place in the last race of the day, Brown defeated Stanford by five-hundredths of a second to capture its second national championship in four years.

Stanford was one of three teams, along with conference rivals California and USC, to place a boat in each of Sunday's grand finals at the 2011 NCAA Rowing Championships.

The 2011 DI Rowing Championships began Friday and each of the nation’s top-five ranked teams advanced all three boats to the semifinals. Brown posted the fastest time of day in varsity eights.
