About the system:
The Waterfront is the first hotel in Penticton to install solar water heating. The system heats most of the hotel's domestic hot water and consists of an array of 8 solar panels mounted on the flat roof facing south and installed at a 45 degree angle. The solar thermal collectors heat up a hot water storage tank with 900 liters capacity in order to produce enough hot water during daylight hours for nighttime use as well.
This system was supported under the ecoEnergy for Renewable Heat Incentive by Natural Resources Canada with a refund reflecting 20% of the total installed cost of the system.
