Move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund dream come true, Mariners star Mustafa Amini says

Rising star Mustafa Amini says he is more than happy to delay his arrival in Germany by 12 months in order to help Central Coast Mariners make amends for last season's A-League grand final defeat.

The Central Coast Mariners midfielder was this week transferred to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, who average crowds of 80,000 or more fans at home games, on a four-year deal and instantly loaned back to the Gosford club.

Speaking on Fox Sports News, the 18-year-old Amini said the move presented him with the best of both worlds and he was excited about the future.

"I'm very excited to have this contract. I've got four years at Dortmund and one year on loan to the Central Coast, so it's a dream come true," he said.

"(Staying at the Mariners) is a great way to develop my game. I can play first-grade football instead of going over to Germany and maybe getting lost.

"I went there (Dortmund) on a two-week trial and I was training with the first team, so that was a great experience.

"I also went to two home games as well and the crowd was 80,000 which was just unbelievable and the football was really good."

Amini, who is an important of Australia's team for the coming FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Colombia, refuses to get ahead of himself, or to predict how long it will take before he can push for a place in the Dortmund first team.

"I'm just concentrating on the Under-20 World Cup and the new season with the Mariners," he said.

"I'm just happy to have the contract and do well with the Mariners, then after that we'll see."

No need for that Mustafa. If you are moving to Germany then just go. Don't stay for another year. We will find your substitute soon.

Good luck to the kid - he deserves this and from the glimpses he showed in the A-League last year he should have a lengthy career with the Socceroos. Great news for the Mariners as well - losing Perez and Amini would have been a fatal blow to their 2011/12 championship hopes.

Let's hope he turns that potential into performance. Dortmund were irresistable in the Bundesliga this year and there is no way he would have played for their first grade team in the next 12 months (Maybe a Champions League game if they are really stretched and no hope of qualifying). He has a long hard journey ahead before he even plays a game for the Bundesliga Champs. So long as he slices open Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar next year it will be a win for most Aussies.
