Steps to a Complete Application

Check whether your field requires a preadmission application

Some fields require a preadmission application before applicants can apply. Please check the field of study website or email the graduate field assistant for your field.

Submit the following materials online with your application

  1. Online application form
  2. Application fee
  3. Personal statement
  4. Transcripts (and English translations if required)
  5. Test scores
  6. Recommendations

Check admissions requirements with your graduate field

While the Graduate School establishes minimum requirements, fields may set additional requirements for test scores or additional application materials. (See the graduate field website or the catalog page on our website for application requirements by field.)

It is the applicant’s responsibility to check with the proposed field and to send all materials no later than the field’s application deadline.

We suggest creating a checklist of materials to be sent directly to your field.

Timely arrival of all application materials will prevent delays in application processing.

Consider costs and funding

Application for merit-based aid-fellowships, assistantships, and tuition awards is part of the application for admission; no additional form is needed. All applicants are eligible to be considered for merit-based aid.

All awards are made by the field.

Complete the application

Once your application is complete and all test scores and letters of recommendaton are received, it will be reviewed on an individual basis by faculty in your proposed program.

Final decisions on admissibility are made only after all factors and credentials related to your educational background have been considered.
