Current club: Tottenham Hotspur
Centre-back Michael Dawson has enjoyed a commanding season (2009-10) with Tottenham Hotspur. The 26-year-old appeared 40 times for Spurs as they finished fourth in the Premier League, leading the team for a significant part of the season while club captain Ledley King was unavailable.
The captain’s armband, however, is no stranger to the 6'2" defender. During his time at Nottingham Forest, where he began his career, he made 13 appearances for England’s Under-21s, captaining the Young Lions on several occasions.
Between 2001 and 2005 he made 91 first team appearances for Forest, scoring seven goals. His move to Spurs in 2005 at the age of 21 also saw him make the step up to the England B team, picking up two caps.
He was selected for Fabio Capello's 30-man provisional 2010 World Cup squad and, although he did not make the final 23, was then called out to South Africa after an injury to Rio Ferdinand.
