Michael Carrick, England

Michael Carrick

Current club: Manchester United

Michael is a classy midfielder with an eye for the ‘killer’ pass. He comes from Wallsend in Tyne & Wear but was developed by West Ham United, with whom he won The FA Youth Cup alongside Joe Cole in 1999.

In the following season the 18-year-old scored once in eight Premier League appearances for the Hammers and had loan spells at Swindon Town and Birmingham City.

He featured in at least 30 Premier League games in each of the next four seasons before switching to Tottenham Hotspur in 2004. A further move took him to Manchester United two years later and he has collected three Premier League titles and won the Champions League with the Old Trafford giants.

Michael was capped 14 times at Under-21 level and made his England senior debut as a substitute for Paul Scholes in a friendly against Mexico at Pride Park on 25 May 2001.

He made one appearance in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, playing the whole of England’s Second Round tie with Ecuador in Stuttgart, and collected a further six senior caps in the season after that.

At club level he has now featured in well over 300 League games.

  • yea, hayleyy i agree with your view. Overall i still admire Michael Carrick very much. He is a cabaple man to help the team. Carrick's way of play deproves towards the end of the season and he in often being used as substitude. He's a good central midfield as we see from the past time. His passing skill is superb. Hope that your future lies long. Lastly, I wish Michael Carrick and the england team a Good Luck and win the world cup in glory. ALL THE BEST- The Three LionsBy CarrickJi (12 months ago)

  • I personally love this guy! many people feel he under-performs but if you look at all the games he has played for utd youll find he is a major asset to any team! yeah perhaps he dosent score as much as steven gerrard or lampard but he is deffensive aswell as a forward and that is a great quality for a midfielder! Come on carrick show the world what you can do! xxxBy hayleyy(: (13 months ago)
