THERE won’t be too much happening here for the next 12 days. I’m off on leave. The time has come to usher our oldest child into the brave new world of school. He’s got his hat and everything.

There’ll be much to discuss on my return, as the Australian Government launches it’s third attempt to pass an emissions trading scheme. After the last failure, I blamed The Greens. Perhaps this time, it will be different.

I will be part of a panel “debate” at the Brisbane Institute on 29 January and may drop in a thought on that at some point pre- or post-event.

If nothing else, Graham has gusto trying to go head to head with Chris.

Interesting what you said about the Green’s as it was noted that they have a plan to pass the ETS next time. The Greens have been slowly losing their grip on reality for some time now and this latest manifestation shows that their use by date is well and truely passed. If they help the Government pass this TAX then they are condemming all Australians to pay extra for everything that we purchase for no reason as the ETS is not designed to cut emmissions but to bolster the morally and finacially bankrupt Government coffers. Their is no evidence that the ETS will have any effect except to lighten the pockets of the Tax Payer but still the brain dead cling to the idea that it will be the saviour of the planet. Its time that Brown took off the Green coloured glasses and really looked at what he and his cohorts are intending to do to the people they are elected to represent. If burdening their voters with an extra TAX is their one and only aim then its time they stepped aside and faded into the ether like the Democrats did. Any right thinking person who accepts their premis that this is good for the environment should really see a shrink or lay off the funny weed for a while.

Political scientists will look back and wonder at the ‘great delusion’.  The unravelling of flawed climate science could unseat some politicians and fatally wound the Greens.

In the meantime the IPCC is having another look at their predictions about extreme weather and climate change.  They won’t wiggle out of this.

The fault lies within the models, which are ‘purely fluid dynamics’ according to Freeman Dyson.  ‘You can learn a lot from them, but you cannot learn what’s going to happen ten years from now.’

Good luck with the debate, good luck to your kid and enjoy your break!

Ah! Finally. A greenie who actually acknowledges that there is in fact a debate.

There is hope yet.

Best wishes to you and your family. I shall continue my study of this fascinating topic in your absence. I have found a huge set of resources through the links that have been offered by true believers, sceptics, and deniers alike that will keep me busy for months.

Good luck with your endeavours to light a candle among the blind.
Warmist regards,
Watson.

You deserve a break Graham - one of the bravest fellows in newspaper land!  See you at the debate, and remember Ghandi’s wisdom: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

Emma

Thanks for the Gandhi quote.

They had to stop ignoring sceptics, sometimes still laugh at us, but the fight is getting more interesting with every day smile

Don’t forget to recharge the camera batteries. These priceless moments of oversized bags and hats are wonderful memories (and useful for future embarrasing 21st birthday moments). It helps to take a few tissues too. You never know who will have separation issues!

My youngest starts high school and he will be walking to the bus stop in an ever so eco-friendly way.

Best wishes for the debate and enjoy the time off.

With your recent foray onto youtube you should stay away from debates Graham. With the AGW scam falling to pieces by the day you will be torn to shreds.
Having said that have a good break and I look forward to your comments in the future.

Graham,
While you are preparing for your encounter with Lord Monckton and Professor Plimer you ought to read this analysis of the climategate emails to see what you will be up against.

http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/images/stories/papers/reprint/climategate_analysis.pdf

This has been brilliantly put together and sets out chronologically how these “scientists” faked the data and manipulated the debate until eventually they tied themselves up in knots. It is a 150 page pdf file but it is compelling reading. When you start you will not be able to leave it.

SPPINSTITUTE.ORG

The name says it all. They spin, you listen. When bloggers do science.

Phil M:
Where’s the substance to your criticism? So the Science and Public Policy Institute gets your knickers in a twist. That comment just shows how bereft of argument you are. It’s about time you started arguing the case rather than the man.

I’d be willing to bet that you have not even read the CRU emails in any sort of detail other than the little that has been disclosed in the main stream press.

Here is an opportunity for you to educate yourself on exactly what these charlatans were up to. It takes you on a journey from 1996 to November 2009 showing the actual words of these so called scientists and the context in which those words were written. After reading this no one can say that these quotes were taken out of context. In isolation the quotes were bad enough but in context they are utterly damning.

When you have read it, Phil, maybe you can give us a detailed critique showing us how misguided it is.

Don’t give us the nonsense that these were just a few scientists behaving badly. These were the movers and shakers of this AGW hypothesis and lead authors of the IPCC Reports.

Phil M replied to amortiser

It’s about time you started arguing the case rather than the man.

You ask this after attacking the scientists yourself?

This is why switfhack turned into a fizzer. Because you guys just attack the man. Not the science. I notice out of the whole hacking affair not a single shred of science has been debunked.

Why is that? Because it is just a feeble attempt at science by hack. No published papers, no critique of the work. Just smear which failed, that you guys gather around like some candle light vigil.

It was meant to bring down the whole show...& didnt. It was meant to bring down the scientists ...& didnt. It was meant to disprove the science ...& didnt.

Just smear.

An exciting time Graham.

Enjoy the break!

Hope you have a good holiday Graham. I also hope your eldest enjoys school- I always remember my brother thought his first day at school was great, meeting new mates, playing football, nice teacher, good pet rabbit etc. What he hadn’t realised was that he had to go again the next day, and the day after that and so on. Came as a bit of a shock!

Don’t be suprised to see Graham taking an extra few weeks off after his embarrassing effort in the debate with Monckton & Plimer.
Graham, the global warming scam is crashing all around you.  Stop making a fool of yourself and start to concentrate on the many, many environmental issues that actually need addressing. At the moment all you’re being is a marketing tool for Al Gore, big business and all the other GM carpetbaggers.
