Thmbs dwn: Attention Gov. Perry: Texas needed that ban on texting while driving

On Friday, Gov. Rick Perry vetoed a bill that would have banned texting while driving. He cast his decision as a bold stroke to thwart "a government effort to micromanage the behavior of adults." We wish he had thought that through. A ban on texting isn't micromanaging adults any more than is the ban on drunken driving. It's more a matter of public safety than personal choice.
