Duran Duran have been forced to cancel five more tour dates in the wake of lead singer Simon Le Bon's medical problems.

The band cancelled several UK tour dates last month after doctors advised Le Bon to rest his voice for a week. However, the singer himself has confirmed that the throat problem has not improved.

"Very sad to announce that our Paris, Den Haag, Brussels, Copenhagen & Stockholm shows are cancelled to be rescheduled at a later date," Le Bon tweeted on Thursday. "This is due to a continuing voice problem that I have been experiencing."

The singer noted that there had been little change to his voice since the cancellation of several other shows last month.

"This I'd put down to the inflammation on my vocal folds clearing up, [but] there is obviously some underlying problem which is not shown by laryngoscopy," he continued.

Le Bon thanked fans for showing concern about his health, but said that he was trying to stay positive in order to aid his recovery.

"It's difficult to stay relaxed when you feel like fighting hard, I'm doing an MRI scan tomorrow," he added.

The band are hoping to be able to resume their tour in Helsinki on June 18.
