Fabrice Muamba, England

Fabrice Muamba

Fabrice, a 6’1” midfielder with Bolton Wanderers, is the most-capped player in the current England Under-21 squad. The last international of 2009, against the Lithuanians in Vilnius, was his 24th appearance at that level.

He began with Arsenal, without playing in the Premier League, and was close to being an ever-present over two seasons with Birmingham City before transferring to Bolton in 2008. In his first season with the Trotters he featured in all of their 38 Premier League fixtures.

Fabrice racked up 28 caps at the various England Youth levels, starting with the U16s back in 2002, before making his bow for the Under-21s as a substitute for Mark Noble in a friendly against Romania at Ashton Gate on 21 August 2007. It finished in a 1-1 draw.
