Happy Halloween: "Beware of Bad Apples"

Artist Stephen Hayford delivers again with a whimsical image for Star Wars fans at Halloween this year. This one places a pair of Sith getting into some mischief among the trick-or-treaters in Mos Eisley (or thereabouts). Hayford describes the scene:

"I couldn't resist showing the dark side of Halloween this year. I remember as a child always being on guard, watching for older kids who steal candy bags and smash pumpkins. I know Vader and Sidious would be those hooligan kids. And Sidious would be the instigator (that's why he's driving without getting his hands dirty with the actual vandalism).

"The inspiration for little Luke's costume came from a young fan attending CV (however, impatient Luke is very sloppy in his construction). Young Leia's costume was inspired by my daughter who wishes every year she could be a fairy princess (again). And considering how often people transport their kids to neighborhoods with 'the good candy,' it made sense to me that you might see Bail Organa take his daughter off world (which also allowed me to have fun with the 'ships passing in the night' concept with the twins.)

"I like exploiting characters in disguises for Halloween themes. I love that there are figures of George Lucas and his son in outfits that happen to be extremely popular Halloween costumes. I also loved the idea that Elis Helrot would simply throw on a robe for a Scream costume. And who doesn't love imagining Lando having a child?"

Be sure to check out some of Hayford's earlier holiday dioramas and stay tuned for his next entry in a few weeks!
