FA help anniversary celebrations

Tuesday, 19 October, 2010

Representative team to play at Hallam FC tonight.

The FA will help Hallam FC celebrate their 150th Anniversary tonight when a Representative XI take on the club at their Sandygate Ground, recognised as the oldest football ground in the world.

England C Manager Paul Fairclough has selected a strong line-up from clubs in the Conference North for what will be a special game in the Northern Counties East side’s long history.

Fairclough was delighted to be involved in the game and said: “I have selected a strong side from players who have been under scrutiny by my scouting network.

"It is always good to look at players from below Conference National level and we have been fortunate in the past with picking up a few gems from Step 2 clubs.

"Only last week  both Paddy Gamble and Aden Flint from Alfreton Town were part of the squad that travelled to Estonia, so who knows what we might turn up tonight.

"It is good to see Liam Brownhill in the squad. Liam is a prime example of what can happen if you catch my eye. Liam turned in an impressive display for an FA XI side in a similar fixture at Sheffield FC and went on to earn England caps.”

Squad
Lee Evans (Stafford Rangers), Josh Law (Alfreton Town), Kieran Murphy (Boston United), Luke Waterfall (Gainsborough Trinity), Liam Brownhill (Droyslden), Antony Church (Boston United), Kyle Storer (Nuneaton Town), Dan Dillon (Alfreton Town), Luke Holden (Droylsden), Sam Duncum (Eastwood Town), Tom Thorley (Worcester City), Ben Mills (Stafford Rangers), James Walshaw (Guiseley), Scott Mooney (Hyde), Justin Marsden (Nuneaton Town).
