Rocklea Saturday Fresh Markets

The Rocklea markets are a hive of activity. All stalls are undercover and it’s a lively, busy Saturday market. You’ll see families stocking up on produce for the week, bargain hunters, older couples and young people especially university students.

Stalls include:

  • fresh produce from local farmers
  • plants (assorted varieties)
  • home-made baked goods
  • meat and seafood
  • confectionary
  • assorted items including soaps, candles and some fashion.

It’s easy to walk around and the stalls are generally clustered according to category, eg plants, fresh produce etc.

I recommend the Saturday Fresh Markets at Rocklea as the place to stock up on fresh fruit and veges. There are heaps of cheap breakfast options from traditional bacon and egg breakfast to the more healthy serves of Greek yoghurts. Other options include pancakes and even a German breakfast stall. There are also coffee stalls so you can easily get your caffeine fix, however lines may be long during busy times. Buy the local paper take a seat, enjoy brekky and read the paper before you start shopping. The markets have a wide range of quality items, especially fresh produce, at prices that are cheaper than most supermarkets and local fruit shops. The Rocklea Markets are very family friendly with kids rides and sometimes face painting (for a small fee) to keep the kids happy.

Great Markets a little bit confusing as to where it is exactly when you first go but fresh and cheap veges. Get there early to get the pick or get there late to get what's left even cheaper.

Good morning Bill,

Thank you for letting us know. We checked with the Rocklea markets and you are quite correct. We have removed the reference to organic produce on this page, and we apologise for the error.

Kind regards
Paul from the ourbrisbane team

Cosmic from Local says:

Very busy markets. I don't go anymore as there is no organic produce. When they bring in organic produce I will go again.

never been to the saturday fruit markets, hope it is good, love fresh fruit will be leaving to get there now... as for the sunday rocklea markets, fantastic..

mickayla from melbourne says:

went while i was on holidays, excellent fresh produce, great experience, apart from one rude stall vendor the man was an absolute pig with a foul mouth he should not be using those sort of words in a public place. His poor wife was there serving she looked exhausted and the names he was calling her was just plain and out right rude. I often go to the queen vic markets but have never seen such a pig on the stalls as a vendor.

sam from brisbane says:

Is there any organic produce being sold at Rocklea markets yet?

gOING\ from Carindale,Qld says:

Just went there last SAT- my first time.

The fruits and vege are reasonably priced but should be consumed within days.

The food stalls were awesome especially the German Sausage ones- to die for! Juicy and succulent sausages. And quench your thirst with freshly squeezed orange juice!! Couldn't get enough of that!

Maree from Sunnybank says:

I am looking for used gold balls. Would I be able to find them there?

janice from browns plains says:

would the fruit and veg last a couple of weeks as it is all fresh, or like the supermarkets where it rots in the fridge by day two

Hope from Brisbane says:

I drive from Warner every Saturday to go to these Markets. The fruit and veg is fresher and more reasonably priced than any other market place in Brisbane. Hence me not minding the 40 minute drive to get there...

S.C from Forest Lake says:

@ Janice ...
I buy fortnightly from the market ... I place the fruit and veg in special bags that expell the gas that ripens the produce.
The bags are called "fresh and crisp" I buy them in the plastic bag section at Woolies. The fruit and veg stay fresh for up to two weeks (varying upon the state of freshness they were in when purchased).
Mind you with the rain at the moment I doubt much of the produce will stay fresh.

Robin says:

We were regulars at the Kelvin Grove markets on every Sat morning & we always took our English Mastiff for a nice stroll around the markets, he loved it as much as we did.
