Bulimba is renowned for its gorgeous character homes that over recent years have been joined by stunning contemporary additions that fit right into this leafy inner eastern suburb.

Many couples and families have bought and renovated in the area, which has had a positive impact on house prices.

Lifestyle

Bulimba is one of Brisbane's most popular riverside suburbs and has undergone a significant transformation since the mid 1990s. Defined by the nearby riverfront and close proximity to the CBD, Bulimba is a very sought after location for young couples, families and professionals.

Oxford Street is not far from any home so residents or visitors can enjoy the culinary delights, boutique shopping and relaxed pace on offer, and Memorial Park is a huge favorite for the kids with lots of green space to run around and plenty of shady trees to rest under.

A leafy suburb, Bulimba also offers residents Vic Lucas Park on the Brisbane River for picnic spots and outdoor activities. Also in close proximity is Hawthorne Park.

For water lovers, Colmslie Reserve in Morningside offers boat access to the Brisbane River.

A feature is the Bulimba Army Barracks located along the Hamilton Reach of the Brisbane River.

Local Services

Services in the area have adapted to accommodate the strong demand for property. There is a thriving cafe and restaurant scene along Oxford Street, which also has a very popular cinema complex.

Cannon Hill Shopping Plaza offers the closest major retailers and complements local stores in the suburb.

Transport

Bulimba is well serviced by rail (the closest are Cannon Hill and Morningside), regular bus services and the CityCat departing from the end of Oxford Street and Apollo Road, all ensuring residents can access the city and other major centres easily.

Residents are also close to the Gateway Motorway and the Southeast Freeway making weekend trips to the Gold and Sunshine coasts a possibility.

Schools in and around Bulimba are Bulimba Primary School, Lourdes Hill College, Balmoral High School, and Cannon Hill Anglican College.

University students are also within 20 minutes of the Griffith University campus at South Bank and a ferry or bus ride from QUT Gardens Point and the University of Queensland.

Property Prices

In the 12 months to the end of March this year, REIQ figures show Bulimba's median house price was $900,000, making it one of Brisbane's most exclusive suburbs.

There have been more than 60 house and unit and townhouse sales in Bulimba over the past six months, with six of these sales being for more than $1 million, and one for more than $2 million.
