RE: World Cup squad selected

I note that save for 5 players this squad is 'north' orientated as usual. I watched this squad recently on Eurosport against France, Denmark & Serbia - they were poor and lets face it lucky to qualify for the World Cup. The comments of the commentators on Europsort during both the French and Denmark games were embarassing. As a Saints fan I'm surprised that a number of our youth team are not included in particular James Ward-Prowse a 16 year old midfielder (who can also play in defence) who has featured in every game last season for the under 18 youth team, the under 21s and recently for the first team in a friendly in front of 17,500 fans at St. Mary's Stadium. he is one of many talents at that age group! The Southampton Youth Team ended up second in their league being beaten to first place by Fulham - there was one point in it! Despite this I note that a defender is included in the 21 'man' squad who played for the team in the same youth league whose club team finished last and conceded a shed full of goals. Obviously the England scouts do not travel as far as Southampton! I hope for Peacock and Swaine that their prejudice for the North and (by the name of certain players) their nepitism that there selection will not back fire. I hope the lads do well and win the tournament - on the Serbian performance however I won't hold my breath!- anonymous
