Jack Wilshere, England

Jack Wilshere

Jack, a midfielder, had achieved a lot at Arsenal before he had even turned 17.

He made his Premier League debut at Blackburn Rovers in September 2008, substituting for Robin van Persie six minutes from time when he was 16 years 256 days old to set a Gunners record.

Ten days later he scored against Sheffield United in the League Cup and in November of the same year he became only the fifth 16-year-old in history to play in the Champions League.

Jack had appeared for England’s U16s, U17s and U19s before Stuart Pearce gave him his Under-21 debut as a substitute for Fabian Delph in the friendly with Holland in Groningen on 11 August 2009, when he was still 17.

Exactly a year later and Jack made his Senior bow in the 2-1 victory over Hungary in a friendly at Wembley.

Called up by Fabio Capello in the Italian's first squad since the summer's World Cup, Wilshere came off the bench in the 83rd minute for captain Steven Gerrard, becoming the tenth youngest player to run out for the Three Lions at 18 years and 222 days.
