Aaron Lennon

PLAYER VIDEO
Current club: Tottenham Hotspur

Aaron is a 5’6” right-winger who is a handful for any defence with his pace, his dribbling skills and his ability to cross the ball accurately.

Born in Leeds, he began with his hometown club and became the youngest ever Premier League player when he came on as a substitute in Leeds United’s away fixture at Tottenham Hotspur at the age of 16 years 129 days in August 2003. Before that, Aaron had also become the youngest player (at 14) to have his boots sponsored!

After making 38 League appearances in two seasons for Leeds, he joined Tottenham in 2005 and won the League Cup with them three years later.

His chances with England were enhanced by moving from the Championship to the Premier League and Sven-Goran Eriksson gave him his first cap as a substitute for David Beckham in a friendly against Jamaica at Old Trafford on 3 June 2006.

He made three substitute appearances in the World Cup in Germany but had to wait until March 2007 for his first start in a Euro 2008 Qualifier in Israel. The fleet-footed wingman enjoyed an extended run in the side in the first half of 2009-10, playing in four consecutive games.
