People are complaining about something we haven't even seen yet? And this is before we even know whether Nikkei is sourcing the rumours we already know of, because you know frankly, we could ALL be wrong.

Its Nintendo, they've had pretty good odds of late, so I wouldn't be too worried about them yet.

I think that it ultimately depends on what developers decide to do with it, really. As with the wiimote, it's a double-edged sword.

Its what they do, Risk Vs Reward, now don't tell me you're complaining about the success of the DS and Wii now!! Devs are stuck in tradition, and thats fine, because 1st Party Nintendo IP means more money for Nintendo.

As for Sony and Microsoft, well neither are doing sufficient enough business in their other product categories to motivate confidence in their new gen. of consoles. You are aware of Sony and MS's stock prices right?

These were my sentiments exactly.

If the console's hardware is competetive with the PS3/360, I can't imagine this console going on sale for less than $500.

I'd be surprised if the controller alone came in under $150.

This whole thing sounds like Nintendo is going way overboard. If the public perceives this is a gimmick, which I'm anticipating, that combined with 3DS's lackluster sales, could spell an end to Nintendo hegemony in the market.

Wiimotes cost a freaking fortune as it is; do they seriously expect people to want to spend potentially a lot more for *controllers*, rather than the system and games(the important parts)?

I'm not sure you'll have to. Think about the NGP which has touch pads on the back.

@NanaMiku: Hahah, yeah, but I mean most people I know with Wiis have a full compliment of controllers. They only really use them when they have company over.

It's gonna be "bring your own controller" for sure, I don't see people stocking up on 4 of these like they do with Wii-motes.
