    @ Gangster480 He seems to suck at the game because he's trying to show the game for what it is? Not sit there and pick of enemies from far away then take on the stragglers? that'd be a very boring video for the review...And regardless of the play style, going to horrible visuals when you get into a situation is silly, you're supposed to appreciate the intricacies of combat, the black&white; totally detaches you from that.

    @Videowsgames Gamespot gave it a 7.5 based on alot of things ign didn't.. IGN gave this game alot of credit by completely "erasing" Infamous 1 from their memory, Infamous was a great game....This plays much like an add-on than a full title. There appears to be less change in the gameplay than there was between L4D and L4D2

    Idk about the pacing. but it seems this guy sucks at the game. "too many enemies on screen can make things frustrating."? so you cant handle it. " black and white screen appear in half of the combat time". HE GOT HIS ASS KICKED. I noticed in the video he never took cover which is a big mechanic of the game. can't run around and expect not to die. he gave this game a bad review because its too hard for him!

    If only you know how much Tom McShea would like to detest the Kinect.

    Besides, if you had been listening to the HotSpot episode right after the debut of Kinect, you would know that Tom McShea sold his own Kinect.

    It's really easy to plug in an allegation concerning a seemingly gimmicky device when you want to criticize someone that you disagree with, isn't it?

    I can understand what he's saying about the black and white screen. Has anyone ever played Splinter Cell: Conviction? I thought the game had a gorgeous visual design, but whenever you were in the shadows, the screen would lose color, thus ruining the aesthetic. I guess what he's saying is that Infamous 2 is sort of like that; the black and white ruin the aesthetic. Maybe it's nitpicking, but I can understand it.

    Since it's a "sandbox" game, pacing shouldn't be an issue right? I mean you can do side missions and power up before heading into a story mission and if the fights are anything like the first game then I agree that they can be exhausting but I think it's the game challenging the player to use your powers in more creative ways. That to me is what made Infamous so good. I look forward to trying this game for myself. WALMART midnight tomorrow.

    @Cmac4, My biggest problems is that the pacing stinks and the fights are often more exhausting than fun. It's why I included those as Bad points in my review. This does feel familiar but that's not the reason it got a 7.5.

    I love the idiots talking about "OH PLAY THE DEMO IT'LL CHANGE YOUR MIND" somehow a 5-10 minute glimpse of a 4-5 hour game is enough to make a sound judgement? .....

    You must have LOVED Darksiders then, because that demo was alllll unique and new...then the rest of the game...was that demo over and over and over...

    IGN gave it a 9 because it was fun, not a 7.5 because it was too much like Infamous. Just saying.

    It seems like the major "problem" the reviewer has with the game is that its to much like the first one and doesnt build upon that...Why is that NEVER an issue with games like Halo or CoD(Not saying i dont like those games) it just seems very odd how you rate one sequel down for not being "different" enough from the first yet others get rated up for the exact same thing. It honestly seems like the only reason those games get such good scores(Not that a 7.5 is bad) is that the devs are bigger. Its just sad because im sure since this review came out before the game it will loose some sales which just hurts the dev. and theres really no reason to loose the sales : / gamespot its sad how far you guys have gone down hill. Oh by the way, Tom talking in a monotone for video reviews is really a bad idea...Even games you do rate very high you sound like your having a miserable time reviewing and playing them.

    @wavelength121 I'm not trying to say the reviewer is wrong, i am simply trying to say that everyone is entitled to one's opinions, and like i said below to ABC2K, i personally don't agree with most of any review's "bad" notes on games. And about the "Nothing is completely unique", i'm not trying to say that this game is great, i haven't played it, what i am saying goes for all games, i try to never predict what a game is like based on how "new" it looks, i base my opinions on story line and how well the game plays out, so i don't see how my own opinions are a "cop out" and i'm sure that this game isn't great, but im still going to give it a chance, and not just conform to a "professional's" opinion, im allowed to have my own. In fact, the fact that you just agreed with the reviewer with out playing the full game shows that you "cop out" more than i, because at least the only arguments i am using are my own.

    Always had a funny feeling about this game since the first teasers. Infamous was one of my favourites this generation, but their approach to the sequel I think has always been kind of a mis-fire; the new 'innovations' seem tacked on and the whole thing looks uninspired compared to the original.
    I may still check it out, but compared to how excited I am about, say, Arkham City, this just doesn't interest me based on what I'm seeing and also having played the demo.

  • coolhardrocker

    Posted Jun 6, 2011 4:16 pm PT

    @ABC2K I see what you are saying, inFamous did set the bar extremely high with its execution, and i myself did have questions when they said they were looking to expand them, i personally think they can't do much other than more powers and such, like the reviewer said. But i have more and more come to listen to the reviewer's pet peeves about games less and less, i more times than not either never experience the "bad" parts they talk about or aren't effected by them, so what i am trying to say is that even though the game may not be unique or perfect, i am still expecting it to be a quality play. And i would also like to thank you for not taking the usual repspoce method people on here do such as "F-You you noob." and were able to convey your opinion in a respectable manner.

    I have no faith in this kid's review scores. I miss guys like Alex Navarro, and Jason Ocampo. They were real gamers and when they gave a review you could feel their passion for it. If a game sucked, you believed them. I have learned recently not to judge a game based on GS reviews alone. Check out other reviews from other sites and then decide if you want to buy. Every other VG site gave this game a near perfect score.

    @Blake135 Yeah I agree with you. All I heard were his dislikes about the game, and how "graphically superb" the game was. There is a lot to talk about with this game, like what I said before, there are new powers for Cole, and the boss battles take a considerable amount of time which means that the game isn't just a 15 hour game. The story is interesting, as well as there being a new city to explore, which he could have elaborated on. If he didn't like the game, I think he shouldn't have reviewed it. I like constructive criticism, but constant bashing of a game isn't cool. It's all good if it's fair and balanced. Maybe you should have reviewed it instead, haha I'm sure your much more knowledgeable about the game than he is.

    7.5 seems a little harsh, but I share McShea's concern on sequels not really innovating on their predecessors. This is something that plagues the video game industry as a whole (and in fact maybe the entire entertainment industry if movie rehashes like Hangover Part 2 and others).

    I'm not sure how this game was reviewed, but I hope it wasn't based off of expectations rather than present quality. Either way, I will most likely enjoy this. Infamous 1 was no classic for me, but it was great fun. This looks no different, though I still don't understand these new weird enemies. People who are mad about this 7.5 are really hurt. C'mon its one mans opinion. Who cares what people think? I don't. Thats what wrong with people in general, they believe their opinion is always above the next man and they also want the general consensus to follow their preference. This is something I grew out of a long time ago, and it's time for any mature gamer on here complaining about a 7.5 to grow up as well. If you're still a child or preteen...then you get a pass...lol

    Its pretty easy being a gamespot sheep like me. I always believe their scores and check it out if its 8 or higher. But, heck, I honestly don't have the time or money to buy games that get an average score and gamble to see if it in actual fact is a good game. I just take these guy's word for it. I mean, it is their job. I do my job and they do theirs.

    all of you flaming poor tom for a review of a game that NONE of you have played yet. and it wasnt even a bad review! a 7.5 is a perfectly fine score. tisk tisk.i had high hopes too for this game, but reserve your judgement til you actually play it. and save your opinions for where they belong, in YOUR review.

    7.5... i guess i will have to see it for myself tomorrow. Gamespot usually gets their review score right, so for it to be a 7.5 must has its reason.

  • Egotte

    Posted Jun 6, 2011 10:02 am PT

    @Search_for_Vali

    Keep whining all you like about his review, keep spewing fallacies about Gamespot's bias towards certain platforms, and keep lambasting others with insults, but it really doesn't put a dent in anyone's directional thought towards the matter.

    Why is it that important to you that he score it better than a 7.5? It just seems to me that the lot of you just don't like to hear something contrary to what you expect, as far as a score is concerned. You have your own brain, I think! Formulate your own god-damned score.

    And if you had a clue about me, you'd know that I don't care for Tom's reviews, but at least I know well enough to realize that he's entitled to score it and criticize it however he likes, without the likes of you saying it's not "justified".

    I wasn't expecting a 7.5 but I can see where he is coming from. I've only played the demo but I noticed some deal breaking issues such as the camera being too close and often obscuring many enemies. Also there was a distinct lack of ambient noise, it felt like I was in a dead city. Although nothing about this was mentioned in the review so can I assume the city sound has been fixed?
    As for the morality system being black and white, almost all games with like systems are black and white choices, it seems strange to pick at that so heavy handed here when for most others it is simply a foot note.

    "Oh no, a review score I disagree with. Guess it's time to type an essay about why Tom is wrong and why he fails as a reviewer." ...Oh, wait. No. It's time to play the game and formulate your own opinion. (Novel idea, huh?) If you agree, fine. If not, that's fine, too. From where I'm standing, he made his points and clarified them. I don't ask much more than that. ...But people, since when was 7.5 a bad score?

  • ItwuzU

    Posted Jun 6, 2011 9:02 am PT

    well since I haven''t played it yet I am not going to jump to conclusions and say he was wrong in his review, but I will say this is the lowest score for this game I have seen yet and it seems to be extremely harsh. especially since his cons for it were present in the first game.

    @Red_Armadilloe
    Like I said earlier, and I will repeat again, unless anyone can say for sure that they have more experience doing Tom McShea's job, all their complaints are little more than hot air.

    @Gelugon_baat

    Those are absolutely terrible reasons for claiming your point. Considering a review is OPINIONATED, Tom has no "long experience and education in his field" to make his opinion better or justified over anybody else’s. He should have "long experience and education in his field" to clearly represent WHY he scored this as a 7.5, which he clearly DID NOT do. People are asking him to clarify and expand upon the reasons why he thought this game deserved a 7.5, either that or change his opinion about it. He's doing neither. And a person can use any analogy that they want to represent something, as long as it gets the point across. The thief analogy was a prime example of my point; you just swayed the point away from the intention. It'd be like me saying the story of the tortoise and the hare is pointless because they're animals and can't relate to people. Why didn't you acknowledge the POINT of my example rather than the example as a concrete thing? And like many others here, I’m done arguing with you. All you do is use logical fallacies to keep the conversation going around in circles. Seriously, what is your opinion about Infamous 2? Do you even have any? If not, then why the freaking heck are you here debating about Tom’s review when you don’t even care about the game? That’s bias in itself. And with that, I’m gone, awaiting tomorrow to enjoy the heck out of Infamous 2.

    Ok i don't get this... I'm playing Infamous 1 for the first time now.

    And as far as i can tell almost every single bad thing he mentions there applies to that game as well.

    Annoyingly many enemies all over the place, completely black and white moral choices, and so forth and so forth.. Either this game should have gotten a slightly higher rating or the old one should have got a lower one...
