Yes! Split-screen - FINALLY. That was the only thing that kept me from getting Dirt 2; a racing game without local multiplayer is ridiculous.

@rezsepehr PS3 review should be up tomorrow, now that the PSN store is back up. I had hoped to post it today, but I've been in E3-related meetings for most of it. I've already played a lot of the PS3 version; just need to test the online modes.

@DamageIncM Most of us on the reviews team now have HD PVR setups on our desks. A couple of us have even bought identical setups for ourselves to use at home as well. Super-easy to capture console footage at up to 720p direct to hard-drive.

  • DamageIncM

    Posted Jun 2, 2011 5:07 pm PT

Yuck... sorry, but not crazy about the sort of game-modes...
This isn't some kind of arcade-game or shooter... well they made it look more like something like that now...

    And also @JusticeCovert :

There IS another way to save replays; it's called FRAPS.
Not for consoles of course, but works fine for PC.
However, I still wonder how the video from consoles gets recorded at GameSpot.

I love this series, however I didn't like the fact that these cars don't feel heavy in game instead feel like feather weight Apart from that it's another fantastic game!

Dirt 1 great, Dirt 2 awesome, Dirt 3 master piece ^^
Colin McCrae Dirt 3 is the most realistic car game until now, tracks impressively detail, Cars I don't even mention, much better then GT and Forza, damage system is awesome, classic on Colin McCrare Series, this is real simulation of driving, isn't like Forza or GT, every time you spin or slide with a car you turn the car backwards or when you use the hand brake!, very unrealistic, for don't mention the awful damage system that games have, and the cars don't get dirty what so ever! This game prove, put loads of cars don't make a racing game better, Who want a real simulation of driving with loads of God content, and the best car and tracks graphics buy Dirt 3.

I was a huge fan in the McCrae years and I tried Dirt 2 because of the rave reviews but found it far too Americanised and more based on stadium events, with a focus around huge brands like DC and drivers that aren't 'real' drivers like Travis Pastrana. It wasn't enough about the rally.

This one looks amazing though. I'll definately give it a try for some variety after months of Forza 3.

got this game when it came out cleared the dirt tour and its great fun with friends or online. One of the best rally games out there if not the best.

In Dirt 1 the damage you could do was extensive, dodgy gear changes ruined your gearbox, tires got ruined, suspension, cooling, turbo, engine and other things could all be damaged and you were told how broken they were by a percentage score. Why, in a more developed, more advanced game, is damage limited to engine and wheel damage with no variation in the seriousness of the damage? I really dont understand some of the decisions made by Codemasters in the making of this game, don't get me wrong It's a great game but it could have been better with some very simple alterations.

All I know is that the co-driver is back, something that has seriously been missing since they changed the name of the series to dirt!

I hope they keep going back to the way the series was originally

@EveryNightIBurn The point is that when we review games we don't start them all at 10s and then deduct points when we find flaws.

The problem with Codemasters is that they pack too much in their games. I played Dirt 1 and Grid and both games had stuff I liked but I was forced to play a lot of modes I didn't like to progress through the career mode. Dirt 2 and 3 seems to be the same. At least I didn't see any garbage trucks or whatever they were in Dirt 1 in this video review.

@JusticeCovert No a 9.0 is amazing just thats the only thing in the review that was a disappointment so i was a little surprised but i understand its great but just not "enough" to be a 10 or 9.5.
Well thanks for responding to our comments never see anyone do that.

@mlawless9999 @feathers632 You guys prefer the cockpit view, I prefer the exterior view. It's probably because when I started playing racing games the exterior view was the only one available, so I'm just used to it. Also, I think it makes the new gymkhana events significantly easier.

why in the name of god would you NOT USE THE IN-COCKPIT VIEW???? every time i see these videos they show almost all 3rd person view.. why???? in-cockpit is like you're driving.... 3rd person view feels like crap ... who is the jack rod that puts these videos together?" - I totally agree! I don't understand how anyone can have fun playing the baby perspective mode. I wonder if these people think that's how real cars are driven? I don't really like 3rd person perspective in any game. If anything though this serves as a reminder that there are many dumb people in this world.
