Yanks brushed back by Angels, 3-2

The last time the Yankees won their season-series with the Angels, Alex Rodriguez was playing for the Rangers and Ivan Nova was in high school. It's only one game, but 2011 already has a familiar feel to it. Jered Weaver threw seven strong innings to lead the Angels to a 3-2 win over the Yankees, snapping the Bombers' four-game winning streak in front of 42,521 at Angel Stadium Friday night.

A-Rod bounces his way to weekly honor

Alex Rodriguez has made headlines for lots of things - insert your own joke here - but he rarely gets press for 70-foot grounders. However, his bouncer down the third-base line against the Mets on Sunday was exactly what the Yankees needed.

Harper: Mets, medical staff at it again

In this case, it was bad enough that the bullpen spit up a Jon Niese gem - and Jose Reyes' error - as the Mets' late-inning nightmares continued in a 6-3 loss to the Braves. The shocker was seeing Sandy Alderson seemingly a bit embarrassed as he explained that, for no new reason at all, David Wright...

Jos-E: Reyes error costs Mets in 6-3 loss

One example of why Jose Reyes can be frustrating to watch: With the Mets clinging to a one-run lead in the 8th, Reyes booted a routine grounder by Atlanta's Alex Gonzalez, allowing the tying run to score. One inning later, Eric Hinske homered off Francisco Rodriguez, who allowed two runs in the nint...

A-Rod: My cousin Yuri's a keeper

Major League Baseball and the Yankees might not want Yuri Sucart spending time at the ballpark, but Alex Rodriguez has no plans to stop hanging out with his cousin. A-Rod made it clear that there is nothing improper about his relationship with Sucart, the cousin Rodriguez tabbed two years ago for su...

Harper: Mets may have Reyes replacement

Ruben Tejada will never be Jose Reyes. He doesn't have the speed to be as dynamic at the plate, but with Reyes' future as a Met very much up in the air these days as he heads toward free agency, Tejada is about as good a Plan B as you could want. His glove alone is enough to give him a long career i...

The Mets called up righty Manny Acosta from Triple-A Buffalo for the roster spot vacated by demoted lefty Mike O'Connor. Can Mets keep David Wright and Jose Reyes?

Some interesting stuff from Andy Martino in Friday's News regarding David Wright and Jose Reyes. First, Wright (remember him?). Accoring to Andy, only the Mets hold a contract option for the 2013 season, so if he goes anywhere else, the face of the franchise will be a free agent after next ......Read More
