Lupica: Dolan shows he's bad company
You hear a lot about the talent agency CAA these days when the subject is the Knicks, how the geniuses running the Garden want very much to be in business with CAA, which represents some star basketball players. Here is a bulletin for the geniuses: No talent agency in this world ever built a basketball power. Smart basketball men do that. The Knicks had one in Donnie Walsh and let him walk out the door Friday.
Yanks brushed back by Angels, 3-2
The last time the Yankees won their season-series with the Angels, Ivan Nova was in high school. Jered Weaver threw seven strong innings to lead the Angels to a 3-2 win over the Bombers.

Yanks brushed back by Angels, 3-2
The last time the Yankees won their season-series with the Angels, Alex Rodriguez was playing for the Rangers and Ivan Nova was in high school. It's only one game, but 2011 already has a familiar feel to it. Jered Weaver threw seven strong innings to lead the Angels to a 3-2 win over the Yankees, snapping the Bombers' four-game winning streak in front of 42,521 at Angel Stadium Friday night.
A-Rod: My cousin Yuri's a keeper
Major League Baseball and the Yankees might not want Yuri Sucart spending time at the ballpark, but Alex Rodriguez has no plans to stop hanging out with his cousin, his former PED supplier.

Judge: NFL deal in everyone's interest
The momentum started building this week towards a settlement between the players and owners to end the nearly three-month lockout. And now the sides have received a not a not-so-subtle push Friday from one of the judges at the appeals hearing in St. Louis. The owners and players met in the long-awaited showdown in the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.

For all the speculation surrounding the uncertainty of the Jets’ free-agent wide receivers, perhaps the more intriguing question is how Gang Green will sort through its crowded backfield.

Oilers' Brule gives an assist to Bono
Gilbert Brule's girlfriend will never again doubt the Edmonton Oilers center's ability to spot a celebrity. As Brule and Kelsey Nichols drove toward a Vancouver park to walk their dog Tuesday afternoon, they approached a pair of hitchhikers, and Brule noticed that one of them was U2 frontman Bono.
Star chase for Richards begins July 1
Despite reports to the contrary Thursday, it still appears that the Blueshirts will have to wait until July 1 to get Brad Richards, the All-Star center who scored 28 goals with 49 assists for Dallas.
Pols probe handling of Madoff victims
Several Congressional representatives have asked a federal watchdog agency to investigate allegations that the trustee charged with liquidating Bernie Madoff's estate is treating the con man's victims unfairly. Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.) and his House colleagues also asked U.S. Comptroller General Gene Dodaro to determine if Madoff trustee Irving Picard and his firm, Baker & Hostetler, have charged too much for their work.
Madoff vics slam Picard over tactics
Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz aren't the only victims of Bernie Madoff who believe they are getting the shaft from Irving Picard, the trustee who filed a $1 billion clawback lawsuit against the Mets owners.
Frosh Minaya wins it for Bowne, 7-6
Bowne's Angelo Minaya went through an emotional firestorm in Thursday's PSAL "B" baseball quarterfinals against No. 21 Bronx Science. First, the pitcher was knocked out of the game in the top of the second inning after falling behind by five runs. Then Bronx Science challenged Minaya by intentionally walking the batter in front of him - Jordy Acosta, who had homered earlier - to load the bases in the bottom of the seventh.

Triple threat: Reyes cops POW honor
Jose Reyes says we are seeing the real him this season, which means two things: his dreadlocks flapping as he whirls around the bases on another triple and - yes, Fred Wilpon - "Carl Crawford money" as a free agent after the season. In the meantime, Reyes is racking up New York Player of the Week awards.
Rank 'em: Week 8 MLB Power Rankings
We are imagining Kirk Gibson jogging around the Arizona clubhouse doing that chainsaw arm pump thing he did after his famous World Series homer back in '88, what with the way his Diamondbacks are playing. And who could blame him now that his snakes are rising in the News' power rankings.

Smith: Over-40 crowd looks to take charge
You've heard of "youth movements" in sports where the younger generation of athletes usurps the elders at the top of the ladder. Now that notion is being turned on its head in boxing. Last week Bernard Hopkins, 46, became the oldest man to win a major world championship when he defeated Jean Pascal. Next week, Glen Johnson, 42, will try to defeat WBC 168-pound champion Carl Froch in the semifinals of the Super Six Tournament.
Lupica: Now it's time for Sandy to get to work
Mets fans have a right to be angry. They have a right to want these owners gone. It is the nature of fans in general and New York sports fans in particular. But for now, today, with a new owner about to be in place and some much-needed money coming into the Mets, money isn't the issue. The baseball decisions that will be made from now on are the issue. The general manager in this case is more important than the owners.
Lawrence: LeBron stops Rose when it counts
Derrick Rose had two monster dunks and three-point plays earlier in the night, when he turned into a blur and the Heat couldn't do anything to prevent him from getting to the rim. But twice at the end of regulation, when the Heat absolutely needed a stop to go up 3-1 in the series, there was only one player cut out for the job. LeBron James.

Swisher's phantom bunt sign works out in end
When Nick Swisher stepped to the plate with runners on first and second in the fourth inning Wednesday, he saw third-base coach Rob Thomson flash a bunt sign. No problem, Swisher thought. But after Gio Gonzalez threw two balls to start the at-bat, Oakland pitching coach Ron Romanick ......Read More
