Ghani Ahmadzai Kicks Off Final Election Push with 15,000 Supporters Rallying in Bamyan and Zabul

August 14, 2009, Kabul – More than 15,000 supporters in Bamyan and Zabul cheered Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai at meetings and rallies just six days before Afghanistan’s Election Day.  Launching a six-province campaign swing, Dr. Ghani Ahamdzai showed his appeal across ethnicity and communities and his dedicating to uniting Afghanistan by reinstating the rule of law, creating jobs and growing the economy and building the foundations of Afghan sovereignty.

During the day of campaigning Ghani Ahmadzai met voters at rallies, meetings and spent an hour meeting shopkeepers on the main street in Zabul city.

In Bamya’s Karmand district, more than 15,000 Afghans crowded together to hear Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai describe his specific proposals on security, ending corruption, growing the economy and creating jobs.  Regional elders, intellectuals, youth, ordinary people from the community as well as members from the local Shuria Wulati were in attendance.

In Zabul, Dr. Ghani Ahmadzai visited the Masjid in Qalat, where he spent two hours discussing his reform plans elders and members of the Shuria Wulati, representatives of the youth, handicapped and poor.  Three senators from the region were also in attendance.  More than 3000 supporters attended the two-hour meeting.

Ghani Ahmadzai then spent an hour walking around the bazaar down the main street in Zabul city.  Ghani Ahmadzai sat with shopkeepers, in small grocery stores and among the merchants that make a living on the main street.  Ghani Ahmadzai listened to the issues facing the residents of Zabul city and described his solutions on security, the economy and
