City Set For Sweden Tour

Posted on: Fri 20 May 2011

Sven-Goran Eriksson will take his Leicester City squad to his homeland this summer as part of their preparations for the 2011/12 npower Championship season.

The Foxes will play three fixtures during a nine-day stay in Eriksson's native Sweden - two of them in a four-team tournament in the capital, Stockholm.

City are scheduled to face IK Sirius of the Swedish third tier in Uppsala on July 12, before travelling south to take part in the Stockholm Football Trophy, alongside Spanish side Real Mallorca, Italian outfit Brescia and Swedish second-tier club Hammarby.

Eriksson's men will take on Brescia in the Söderstadion on July 15, before facing Hammarby at the same venue on July 18, with the trophy being awarded to the tournament's highest-scoring team across their two games.

The trip will form a significant part of City's summer schedule, which also includes a prestigious pre-season friendly with Spanish giants Real Madrid at the Walkers Stadium on July 30.
