Thomson Reuters Extends Elektron with StreamBase CEP Technology

Platform to deliver application development and strategy deployment

London & New York - Thomson Reuters today announced a strategic relationship with StreamBase in order to deliver a CEP technology platform that is fully integrated with Elektron, the firm’s high performance global network. The relationship will result in the industry’s only trading platform that combines comprehensive real-time and historical data, high capacity network connectivity and managed hosting services with a CEP platform for rapid application development and strategy deployment.

Today’s market is increasingly complex and trading firms require an infrastructure that enables them to quickly and more efficiently develop, test and execute new trading strategies according to changing business requirements. For the first time, customers can leverage the benefits of a robust CEP platform via Elektron to power their high frequency trading strategies.

CEP has become a critical technology platform for building high performance trading applications, either directly or via ISVs, and is increasingly deployed as a core component of real-time trading architecture. The integrated offering delivers a range of high performance configurations to support the most demanding ultra-low latency applications, and can be deployed as a local client installation or in Elektron’s secure, globally distributed hosted environment. With pre-integrated access to real-time data from both Thomson Reuters and partners, firms will benefit from accelerated time to market together with the ability to rapidly iterate their trading strategies as opportunities arise.

Thomson Reuters will deliver a suite of applications that are “powered by” StreamBase CEP to address low-latency workflow. Through this strategic relationship, firms can have all the benefits of a turnkey solution in terms of time to market and yet still be able to fully customize the underlying application. The StreamBase CEP technology will be offered as a component within the Enterprise Platform for Velocity Analytics to create the first end-to-end quant platform for back testing, algorithmic development and deployment. The technology will also complement the existing Thomson Reuters Dealing Aggregator FX trading solution, available exclusively to Thomson Reuters Dealing customers, by providing CEP capability in tandem with the low latency algo trading platform.

Mike Powell, Global Head of Enterprise Real-Time Solutions, Thomson Reuters, said: “The financial market landscape continues to evolve rapidly, meaning that nimbleness and time to market have become essential for market participants. Elektron empowers our customers to innovate and achieve high performance through a seamless infrastructure that brings together global market participants, delivers world-class content and creates a suite of new added-value services. The combination of StreamBase’s market leading CEP engine together with Elektron will provide a platform for us to deliver flexible and sophisticated solutions to our customers faster and more efficiently. ”

Mark Palmer, Chief Executive Officer, StreamBase says: “The combination of CEP and the vast resources and capabilities of Thomson Reuters is a big turning point in the global adoption of StreamBase as the standard platform for innovative, real-time applications within the financial markets. We’re honored to be selected as the CEP platform of choice for Thomson Reuters thousands of customers worldwide.”
