Andy Murray will potentially have to beat his nemesis if he is to go on and win an Olympic gold medal in the singles.

Although Murray has been handed a routine opener against Chinese Tapei's Yen-Hsun Lu, the sixth-seeded Brit could end up facing Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals.

Nadal, who is closing in on becoming the new world number one, has beaten Murray in all five of their previous meetings - including wins in Germany, Canada and Wimbledon this year.

Murray will face the winner of the clash between Ivan Ljubicic or Agustin Calleri if he comes through the first round unscathed, while ninth seed Stanislas Wawrinka is a potential opponent in the third round.

Nadal, ranked second in Beijing, will open up against Potito Starace before a possible second round meeting with Lleyton Hewitt, while top seed Roger Federer starts his challenge against Dmitry Tursunov.

In the doubles, Murray teams up with his brother Jamie to face Canadian pair Daniel Nestor and Frederic Niemayer.

Nestor, who normally plays alongside Nenad Zimonjic, is ranked number one in the world at doubles and is the current Wimbledon champion.

In the women's draw, world number one Ana Ivanovic will take on Ukraine's Mariya Koryttseva in the first round while fellow Serb Jelena Jankovic opens against Cara Black of Zimbabwe.
