Shawn Johnson added a gold medal to her three silvers at the Beijing Olympics with victory on the balance beam on the final day of gymnastics competition at the National Indoor Stadium.
The 16-year-old American had finished second in the team, all-around and floor finals but finally got on the top step of the podium with a superb balance beam routine.
She earned a mark of 16.225 from the judges to finish ahead of compatriot Nastia Liukun (16.025) and China's Cheng Fei (15.950).
Earlier on Tuesday, China's Li Xiaopeng claimed the fourth Olympic gold medal of his career with success on the parallel bars.
Li was the last to perform and needed to better South Korean Yoo Wonchai's score of 16.25 - he did so in some style with a near-flawless performance that earned a mark of 16.45 from the judges.
Yoo collected silver with Anton Fokin of Uzbekistan taking the bronze.
The result makes Li the most decorated Chinese gymnast in history as he also won gold on the same apparatus eight years ago in Sydney as well as team golds in both Sydney and Beijing.
And Zou Kai's triumph on the horizontal bar took China's final gold medal haul in the artistic gymnastics to nine out of 14.
Zou produced a spectacular effort to take his personal tally to three golds after wins in the team and floor disciplines earlier in the week.
Jonathon Horton of the United States finished with silver and Germany's Fabian Hambuechen the bronze.
There was another gold heading China's way in the men's trampoline final courtesy of Lu Chunlong.
