<volta> animI am always looking for words that have some sort of energy bone Usually the name just comes, from a magazine or somebody says something bone I had waited for years while working on the album but it didn't come bone In the lyrics there are words like "voltage" and "voodoo", which I found to be too common somehow bone

I have always tried to choose titles which are kind of latin or something, which aren't english, which is a little funny because we europeans find latin to be sort of neutral language... bone But I found Volta... I don't recall how it came about, but I Googled it and found that it is both the name of a scientist in Italy who invented the battery bone and also a river in Africa which had been built by men bone and a lagoon built by men called Lake Volta bone So several parts come into it bone

I'm not going to name anything specific, people can guess for themselves what it is bone There is also a mideval dance with carries that name, a very funny dance which is very hard to learn bone Thusly, I got a lot of things in one word: a dance, a river in Africa which doesn't work anymore, and the battery bone So okay - this fits.

earth intruders

It's sort of a justice song. Like, "we want justice NOW" song bone So I ended up feeling "how on earth am I gonna do that visually?"... and I ended up finding an animator who's French, but he was brought up in Africa, and did gorgeous cartoons, for example one called Kirikou bone I just think he portrays people with dark skin in a very on-level sort of way that is very equal bone   It's not like the colony style that I think Africans are exhausted with, kind of like "oh, I'll kill the tiger and put its head on my wall", like it's an exotic creature or something bone I mean, me being from Iceland, I've never seen an elf in my life, but still 20 years later, everybody calls me "elfin" or whatever bone So basically, Michel Ocelot is doing the video to this one bone And it's animated bone And it's about the Earth Intruders.

I had been invited by Unicef to visit the areas hit hardest by the tsunami bone I was there for a few days, and I just sucked it all up, I couldn't even react to it, it was just too much bone Then I had to take several airplanes and go to New York, and in a fit of jet lag, trying to sleep in airplanes, I had this dream bone I dreamt that a tsunami of people would go over the airplane and hit the White House and sort of scrape it off its ground. And as I was in the dream, I was looking up at the floor tiles bone Because that was somehting that was really weird in Indonesia, that you could see how a whole town was just scraped off the ground, but you could still see the floortiles and go, "This is the bedroom, this is the bathroom..." bone And all the mud and the bones, and people still digging out with teaspoons finding toys bone
I was with a woman who found her mom's favorite dress there, her crying while pulling it out of the mud bone It was pretty fierce bone So this dream is like some peculiar naïve fantasy, that maybe a tsunami of people will take over the White House and correct it all. bone XFM interview, April 2007

I have sort of just done what turned me most on at any given moment bone I am so emotionally driven that i have learned long time ago that if my stuff doesn´t come from my heart it simply collapses bone Because of the hairy meaning of that “production” word , it has really varied bone I think every person i have worked with there has been a different working pattern / method bone But for the tracks that i don´t come up with the beats , most of the time the guys supply beats and i sit for months editing back and forth and making it work. bone Brooklyn Vegan, April 2007

We sang together in the 24 hour dark with our faces pressed
together, standing on the polar bear rug, and in jamaica,
crying out at the ocean and leaping into waterfalls.
