Mori Confirms BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 DLC/New Console Release?

Recently, Blazblue producer Toshimichi Mori and Guilty Gear producer Daisuke Ishiwatari went to the World Game Cup in France. There, they finally answered some questions that fans have had for a while. We BlazBlue fans just kind of assumed that we would be getting all the new balance updates in BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 as some sort of DLC patch, but this was never actually confirmed by the people over at Arc Systems Works. However, at the World Game Cup, Mori said, “It’s definitely coming, but I don’t want to say when. It will either be really cheap or free.” So, in short, Mori confirmed what we had all previously assumed. However, this lack of a date thing is a bit troubling. Fans originally thought that we would see CS2 hit sometime around April, when the portable version was released. Now, that date isn’t looking so likely.

In other news, Mori and Ishiwatari also confirmed one of the hopes and dreams of Arc System Works fans everywhere. They will be making a new Guilty Gear sometime in the future. Absolutely no details are out other than the fact that it will most likely come out on the HD consoles and not the Wii. Big surprise there! /sarcasm

Latley, Mori also released a statement to Eurogamer saying that a brand new console release of BlazBlue Continuum Shift might be coming as well. “We’d get booed if it doesn’t release.” Mori said, “So that means yes. We’re not saying when, but it will be coming out.” Many analysts are taking this to mean a totally new disk might be coming our way. However, this simply might be a mistranslation. It’s very possible that Mori was talking about the patch that he previously announced at the World Game Cup.

In other Arc System Works news, Arcana Heart 3 is scheduled to be releases on the PSN this year. Strangely enough, the US is the only territory in which Arcana Heart 3 is a download only game, as it is a full disk game in Europe and Japan. Considering this, we may be getting a BBCS2 patch, while Europe might be getting a CS2 disk. It all depends on what publishers Arc System Works decides to work with.

Either way, it looks as if we will be seeing many new Arc System Works releases coming in the near future. It is a good time to be a fighting game fan.
