Andrew Cuomo was sworn in as governor of New York on January 1, 2011.
Immediately prior to becoming governor, Cuomo served as the attorney general for New York. He previously served as secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, after serving as the department’s assistant secretary of community planning and development.
Cuomo established the Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged (HELP) in 1986, which has since become one of the country’s largest builders and operators of service-enriched transitional and low income permanent housing.
He attended Fordham University in the Bronx and received his bachelor’s degree in 1979. He received his law degree from Albany Law School in 1982. |
