Rick Scott was sworn in as governor of Florida on January 4, 2011.

Scott has made a name for himself in business, health care, and politics. From 1987 to 1997, Scott established and led Columbia, which later became Columbia/HCA, a company that works to reduce costs and improve care for patients in hospitals around the country. After purchasing a controlling interest in America’s Health Network, Scott co-founded Solantic Corporation in 2001, which operates unique and innovative urgent care centers across Florida.

Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and received a law degree from Southern Methodist University.
