Scott Walker was sworn in as governor of Wisconsin on January 3, 2011.

Walker began his career working for IBM in Milwaukee. He was elected to the state assembly in 1993, where he was a member of several committees including the Assembly Committee on Health and the Assembly Committee on Census and Redistricting, and chaired the Committee on Corrections and the Courts.

In 2002, he was elected county executive of Milwaukee – the first Republican to hold the position. For the next eight years, Walker focused on reducing the county's debt and, despite failing national and state economies, Milwaukee County recorded a budget surplus in 2009. He was reelected to the position in 2008.

Walker attended Marquette University. He and his wife, Tonette, have two sons.
