    SUBSCRIPTIONS

How do the voucher subscriptions work?

There are two types of vouchers: one where the vouchers are sent direct to yourself and one where the vouchers are sent direct to a newsagent of your choice.

You can subscribe to have vouchers for every day of the week (Monday to Sunday), six days a week (Monday to Saturday) or for two days a week (Saturday and Sunday).

We have two main voucher subscription packages. For our pre-paid voucher package, if you decide to have the vouchers sent direct to yourself then we will dispatch 26 weeks worth of vouchers to you. There will be a voucher for each day of the week that you have subscribed for. You simply take the voucher into a participating newsagent and exchange it for your copy of The Independent or The Independent on Sunday.

If you decide to have the vouchers sent direct to your newsagent then we will dispatch 26 weeks of worth of vouchers to your newsagent. There will be a voucher for each day of the week that you have subscribed for. We will also send you a letter to confirm that your vouchers have been sent to your newsagent and when your subscription will start and end.

For our monthly subscription package, we dispatch vouchers in 13-week batches.

Can I use my vouchers at any newsagent?

The majority of newsagents and shops will accept the vouchers, but please do check with your newsagent prior to subscribing that they are happy to accept them.

Will my newsagent lose out if I take out a voucher subscription?

No, they receive the same amount of money as they would if you paid for your newspaper normally and they also receive a handling fee per voucher to cover their costs.

What happens if I go on holiday?

If you go on holiday or cannot for other reasons make use of your voucher, you may claim a voucher credit. Unused vouchers can be returned to us and a refund will be credited to your account within 10 working days. Simply send unused vouchers in to: Independent Subscriptions, 124-144 Royal Avenue Belfast BT1 1EB.

You may claim up to six weeks of voucher credits for every 52 weeks purchased. As an example:

Mr Smith has a 6-day 26 week subscription. Therefore he may claim up to three weeks of credits (6 days in the week) so up to 18 days' credits are applied to his subscription account. He claimed 9 days of this entitlement and when he renews his subscription this credit lowers the amount he pays for the next 6 month subscription.

Who will debit my account if I subscribe?

Your account will be debited by Independent News and Media Ltd.

    Frequently asked questions

What happens if my account is in credit and my next subscription payment is due?

The amount you need to pay is reduced; for example:

Mr Jones's account is £5 in credit when his 26-week £130 subscription is renewed, so the payment due becomes £125.

What happens if my account is in credit and I don't renew or cancel?

When a subscription account is cancelled any credit balances are refunded by cheque.

Why does my Direct Debit payment amount alter slightly each month?

Your account is debited the exact amount to pay for your subscription package in accordance with your package terms: for example

Mr Black pays monthly for his subscription @ £5 per week. In his first month his debit is £20 , the second month is £19.28 as he claimed a 1 day credit , and the third month is £25 as there are 5 weeks in this month.

Please note if you pay monthly, due to the time it takes banks to set up direct debits your first payment will possibly contain your 1st and 2nd month payments together.

    HOME DELIVERY

How does the Home Delivery service work?

Once you sign up to our Home Delivery service, delivery will commence the following Monday. Your paper will be delivered through your letterbox before 7am every morning, with no need to involve your local newsagent.

What happens if I go on holiday?

We can suspend delivery during your holiday, and your account will be credited accordingly. All requests for holiday stops must be supplied to us with at least 72 hours notice, to guarantee delivery will be stopped as requested. You simply need to call our Customer Services team on 0800 028 0944 and let us know your holiday dates, or email them to homedelivery@independent.co.uk

    Where does Home Delivery operate?

We can deliver your newspaper to your door if you have a Central London Postcode. If you live outside London, we can offer you a voucher subscription instead. You may still be able to have a home delivery, but this would be organized by you directly with your local newsagent.
