Welcome to St Lucia
Named after St Lucia in the West Indies, the Brisbane suburb of St Lucia has almost become synonymous with the University of Queensland, which resides over 114 hectares of prime real estate, right along the Brisbane River.
The suburb itself is a beautiful one, with magnificent homes and huge trees. Residents can take advantage of the University campus by cycling along the riverside bike-paths, feeding the ducks in the artificial lakes or playing tennis and swimming in the superb sporting facilities.
St Lucia also has several tucked-away dining and shopping secrets. If you're visiting St Lucia, make sure you visit Hawken Drive, which has some of Brisbane's best eateries and a shopping centre.

Maree says: St Lucia is a beautiful leafy and friendly suburb with some lovely river views and parks. The older generations mix with the younger university students. This fusion can be seen at the local cafes. The university looks especially impressive when the Jacaranda trees are in bloom.
