Tom Corbett was sworn in as governor of Pennsylvania on January 18, 2011.

Corbett has served as the attorney general for Pennsylvania since 2004, after holding the office for two years previously from 1995 to1997. He began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in Pittsburgh’s Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He served as assistant United States attorney for the western district of Pennsylvania and has worked in the private sector. Corbett also was the United States attorney for western district of Pennsylvania from 1989 to 1993.

Corbett served as a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard 28th Infantry Division from 1971 until 1984, rising from private to captain.  He received his undergraduate degree from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania, and received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas.
