Sony announced a couple of first party PlayStation 3 peripherals today.

First up is a new Dualshock 3 color. The PS3's standard controller will soon be available in "Candy Blue." This will be priced at the standard ¥5,500 Dualshock 3 going price.

The other item is the "Dualshock 3 Charging Stand." This stand can hold two Dualshock 3 or Sixaxis controllers. The ¥2,480 set includes the stand itself, an AC adapter, a power cord, and two charging attachments. The attachments are required for connecting the Dualshock 3 to the charging stand, but they can be kept permanently attached to the controller.

Both items will be released on April 21.

  • Ice blue, you've returned!

  • @ Joshmilewski Hey HEY! its candy blue !>.

  • A n00b question but will a Japanese controller work with a NA PS3.

  • @ BurstDragon:
Yes, all PS3 controllers are region free (I have a Japanese white DS3 controller, which works fine on my PAL PS3) so import away!

  • I definitely want one of those charging stands - they look great. Looks like I'll have to import though as, just like the official PS3 slim stand, Sony may never release it in PAL territories; why I have no clue.

  • @BurstDragon

every hardware works the same no matter what region it is.

you plug a JP gamecube controller ceramic into a NA gamecube or JP memory cards on NA PS2(though it's advisable to keep japanese saves on 1 memory card instead of mixing it with NA) or vice versa.

it's the software region that is different.

ceramic white is the best though :P

  • Ohhh that's nice, my sis would like that I think. Now they need to make a better shade of red.

  • Anoop, can you give the image sources? I'd like to download the uber-resolution versions.
