The good news about taking the artisan bread course at NAIT was that, besides lots of knowledge and a tummy full of bread, students left with a carefully nurtured container of sourdough starter.
 
 
 
Patricia Smith takes requests. Her customers aren’t afraid to ask and she isn’t afraid of a challenge. Her Country Kitchen booth at the Old Strathcona Farmers Market in Edmonton is a compact feast of flavour. As of this week, when she added a cajun flavour, she now offers 50 varieties of mustard, many of which started as a customer’s plea for a particular blend.
 
 
 
For all those carnivores who scoff at the Canada Food Guide recommendation that we eat only one small serving of meat per day, have we got a place for you.
 
 
 
In case you didn’t know, pho is Vietnamese noodle soup, and there are restaurants all over the city that specialize in it. There’s even one chain, Pho Hoa, with four locations in Edmonton.
