EDMONTON - Transcend Coffee started brewing up business at its third Edmonton location Tuesday, on Jasper Avenue and 104th Street.
The space, formerly occupied by Axis Cafe, includes a café with cosy loft seating next to a new fireplace, and a fully equipped boardroom available for rent.
Since opening its first location at 99th Street and 62nd Avenue in 2006, Transcend has made its name by importing and roasting specially selected fair-trade beans, and brewing caffeinated masterpieces for appreciative patrons. A second café opened in April 2010 in the historic Garneau Theatre Building at 87th Avenue and 109th Street.
As well as coffee in all its forms, the new location offers soup made in-house daily. Belgian-style liege waffles made from batter supplied by Eva Sweet Waffles will soon be on the menu, as they are at the Garneau location. And in the spring, both the downtown and Garneau branches will introduce an expanded hot food menu as well as a selection of beer and wine.
The menu, created by Transcend barista Chad Moss, a Red Seal chef, will focus on Central and South American street food such as empanadas and pupusas, that Transcend coffee buyers have experienced during sourcing trips.
