Oracle Database

Pythian has deep roots in the Oracle community. Our database engineers and system administration specialists are active in Oracle users groups, often speak at Hotsos, Oracle Open World and other international conferences, participate in the Oracle beta processes (e.g., Oracle 11g) and participate in a number of special interest groups including Oracle RAC Sig and Oracle Exadata Sig. We also have one of the most-read Oracle-focused blogs.

The World’s Top Oracle Experts

Even the best DBAs are limited by their own experience. But at Pythian, we have one of the world’s largest concentrations of dedicated and varied DBA expertise. This shared experience is an enormous asset to our clients.

Alex Gorbachev is a member of the OakTable Network and has been awarded the prestigious Oracle ACE Director title by Oracle Corporation. As an Oracle ACE Director, Alex joins an elite and rare group of professionals: there are fewer than 100 DBAs in the world with this title and fewer than 20 in the data management performance category.

Christo Kutrovsky is an internationally-respected expert in performance tuning at the database, operating system and disk subsystem levels. His expertise extends to clustered configurations of Oracle RAC and ASM.

Marc Fielding, a senior member of Pythian's Consulting Group specializing in high availability, scalability and performance.  He has worked with Oracle database products over the past nine years, from version 7.3 up to 11gR2, and has expertise in Oracle Exadata & with the Sun Oracle Database Machine. His experience across the entire enterprise application stack allows him to provide reliable, scalable, fast, creative, and cost-effective solutions to Pythian's diverse client base.

Jurijs Velikanovs is a world-recognized Oracle Applications DBA expert and a sought-after speaker at prestigious conferences including Hotsos and UKOUG. He is also an Oracle Certified Master (OCM), the highest level of Oracle certification achieved by only a very few DBAs in the world.

We know when to scale up and scale down, when to use clustering technology, when to use streams and replication. We know database features to mix, when to launch onto which database, what hardware to use and how to make sure it’s all configured properly. Migrations, performance tuning, security, data modeling, data warehousing – we’ve worked for a lot of companies and know how these things work.
