Marn discusses EG departure on Cross Counter TV

Martin 'MaRN' Phan sat down with Cross Counter TV hosts Mike Ross and Ryan 'gootecks' Gutierrez and discussed in detail what many were waiting for him to spill the beans about: his abrupt departure from Evil Geniuses a couple of weeks ago.

Phan said on the show that, "I never received a cent [from EG]." He goes on to imply that he was only on the team to "make the other player look better". One can only assume he was speaking about current EG player Justin Wong. "It works that way if you're a better player in your team's eyes, but if you were just there to make the other player look better..." He also told the hosts, in response to their question about if a player is not the #1 player on the team, they don't get paid, he replied with a simple, "yeah".

Afterwards, he announces that he has been offered a sponsorship deal by The Traveling Circus, but that he hasn't accepted yet and probably won't at all because the terms of the deal require him to sell shirts to make money.

Phan believes that he can succeed more in competition if he remains a free agent and stays away from playing under a sponsor. "I have incentive to be the best," he said. "And you know, I want to practice, I want to become the best. Now, I want to beat Justin."

He continued with more cryptic messages no doubt referring to his time in Evil Geniuses: "Don't ever sell yourself short," he says. "Don't get tricked into something to make someone leave something for another thing...you know what I mean?[...] Don't get lied to. Don't believe anything until it's written down."
