Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne, who became the youngest driver to triumph in NASCAR's top race last weekend, will stay in the second-tier Nationwide Series this season despite his victory.

With his win at Daytona last week, rookie Trevor Bayne has already been tabbed as NASCAR's next star and is being called a possible saviour for a sport that has seen declining attendance and sponsorship revenue in recent years.
 
 
 
But given his ascendance from bright young racing prospect to Daytona 500 champion in a single afternoon, an obvious question has arisen:
 
 
 
NASCAR penalized the Truck Series team Michael Waltrip drove for at Daytona International Speedway. Waltrip won the season-opening truck race for Vision Aviation Racing. NASCAR found that his spoiler had broken over the closing laps. NASCAR fined crew chief Doug Howe US$25,000.

Bayne wrecks primary car in opening practice at Phoenix
