VERNON -- Back massages, foot rubs and locked bedroom doors.

That was the testimony heard in Vernon court on Friday at the trial of a former teacher accused of having sex with a 12-year-old student.

Deborah Ashton is fighting charges of invitation to sexual touching, sexual assault and sexual touching of a person under 14 years old.

The brother of the alleged victim took the stand on day five of the trial.

He testified that Ashton used to come to their house regularly between 2002 and 2004.

He told the court he saw Ashton massaging his then 12-year-old brother’s back, feet and legs.

The brother also testified the grade seven teacher would sometimes go to the boy’s room to do homework with him and sometimes the bedroom door would be locked.

Ashton denies the allegations.

The trial is expected to continue next week.
