TORONTO -Nearly six weeks after winning a $50-million Lotto Max jackpot, 19 employees of an east Toronto call centre collected about $30-million of the winnings Monday, with the remaining money to be settled through the courts after another group of coworkers disputed the claim. The Bell Canada workers claimed the winnings, the second-largest single-ticket lottery win ever in Canada, in early January but the payout was delayed after another group claimed a share. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. has determined the original 19 workers are entitled to the prize money and launched an investigation into the second group's claim. The second group hired a lawyer and is preparing to launch a lawsuit for the winnings.
