Rumours are flying faster than a speeding bullet about Twilight star Kristen Stewart possibly becoming the next Lois Lane.

Casting has begun for Superman: Man of Steel, which will be filmed in Vancouver this year.

Digital Spy reports that Stewart is in the running to become Clark Kent's No. 1 girl.

Also under consideration, according to other reports, are Jessica Biel, Rachel McAdams, Watchmen's Malin Akerman and Glee star Dianna Agron.

As for the man in tights, the role has reportedly gone to a relatively unknown British actor, Henry Cavill.

The film is to be directed by 300 director Zack Snyder.

Stewart arrives in Vancouver this month for the filming of Twilight: Breaking Dawn, with co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. It's believed filming of Superman will begin in the summer.
