City snow removal crews cleared off our north-west residential area street right down to the pavement Jan 29, leaving behind some not so tidy looking windrows. Across the street and farther down in front of the school building, a pair of Bobcats scooped the resulting windrow off the road and up onto the school lawn, reclaiming some badly needed street parking space.

After performing a dance called “New Spring”, four girls from Ottewell Junior High School’s bilingual program walked into the heavy snow and have a picture taken in front of the ice Chinese Gate. They are, from left,  Olivia Wang, Anna Yang, Elizabeth Ng and Melanie Liu.

On a snowy, cold early afternoon of January 8, 2011, a flock of Bohemian Waxwing visited the Meadowlark community of west Edmonton. They stoped just long enough to gobble on the berries left on the mountain ash and chokecherry trees in front of our house. A berry feast for them and a feast for the eye for my husband and me!
